I want to be very careful not to become a dog hoarder, and I want to ensure that I'm giving each generation of my farm Collies the attention they deserve... so I will be finding new homes for some of my adult dogs as they retire from breeding and sometimes older pups for various reasons.
Butterscotch Farm Molasses Cookie - available
As many of you know, I held back two girls from my 2021 Thane x Breeze litter, and really took my time deciding which girl was a better fit for my breeding program. It has been a very difficult decision, as both pups have so many good traits! However, I have come to believe that Molly is best suited to a pet home, as her level of confidence and adaptability in new situations is not what I'd like to see. I believe that with some confidence building, she will come to do great in most situations, but it will take a little work and practice.
Molly was born July 29, 2021, and weighed about 48 pounds yesterday. I think she'll probably top out around 55 pounds. She has a silky, shiny, wavy coat.
She has a very submissive, eager-to-please temperament, and learns new tricks quickly. She seems to be nurturing and intuitive, and enjoys meeting people when she is on her own turf. She lives with cats, and is very good with them, but may chase a little if they run around outside. She was very briefly exposed to chickens and a bull calf when very young.
Pickup options:
She can be picked up in southwest Maine, or I can meet someone within 3 hours.
Limited time offer: I leave Sunday, Feb. 27th on a brief road trip to South Carolina, and could potentially drop Molly off along that route. My timetable is tight, though, so course deviations would need to be limited!
Based on her parents' genetic testing results, Molly is a carrier for CEA and clear for MDR1, CN, DM and VWDII. Her PennHip score is .35/.42, and her genetic diversity is on the low end of average for Scottish Collies according to Better Bred.
Molly is $950 to the right home. Email me at dracaena at live dot com if you believe Molly is what you're looking for.
Hope she finds the perfect home. She is beautiful. Someone will be thrilled to look at that face every day. Being a breeder is tough.
