Getting Big!!

I missed last week's update... Breeze's crew are 3 weeks old today, and Hazel's turned 5 weeks yesterday, so it's less than 3 weeks until the first litter can start going home! It's crazy how fast this time goes!

Hazel's pups are pretty much all teddy bears, lol. Breeze's is possibly more of a mix - there may be a few higher energy pups in the bunch.

I'm still working on matching personalities with people on the waiting list, but it's possible 1-2 of Hazel's may be available, and maybe a few of Breeze's. See the tabs at the top of the page for more info on the parents and pricing.

Here are the pictures!! Breeze's were easier - Hazel's wanted to play. I had to make all manner of weird noises to get them to sit and look at me. 😂

Peanut:

Murray (reserved):

Acorn:

Chestnut:

Cashew (being evaluated as a potential breeding dog for someone's program):

Lol, I considered taking a second picture of Cashew but decided the tongue out was way too cute. 😂

Now Breeze's puppies...

Fritter:

Cider (possibly reserved):

Apple Brown Betty:

Streusel:

Candy:

Crisp (possibly reserved):

Cobbler:

Now to go figure out how to keep Murray from escaping the puppy pen!!! 😂😂😂

Happy Wednesday!

Puppy Updates!

Things are in a state of adorable chaos at Butterscotch Farm with 12 puppies in my 500-square-foot cottage! Breeze's are still in the stage where they basically just eat and sleep...eyes probably won't open for another few days or week.

Hazel's, though, are getting HUGE and so much more interactive. I usually bring them (and Hazel) to my parents' house while I'm at work, so they are getting lots of experience riding in a car and lots of handling from my family.  ❤️

Here are Breeze's cuties at one week old:

Fritter (boy):

Cider (boy):

Betty (girl):

Streusel (boy):

Candy (girl):

Crisp (girl):

Cobbler (boy):

I'd like to see Breeze's crew gaining weight a little faster... no one quite doubled their weight in a week. But everyone is growing! Overall they seem healthy and vigorous. I did take Candy to the vet this morning because she woke up around 3:30am crying and remained fussy for a few hours. If her temperature is normal when I check it again in a few minutes, I think it's safe to assume it was just an upset tummy or she was too chilly.

I'm not totally sure whether I will have puppies available from Breeze's litter... I'm still in discussion with my waiting list. Feel free to reach out if you're interested, though.

Okay, brace yourselves for extreme cuteness... Hazel's puppies are growing up fast!! She is being a truly incredible mother... she is SO careful how she moves around the puppies so she doesn't step on them, and she's feeding them so well that they are now between 4-5lbs at 3 weeks of age. For comparison, a couple of Breeze's puppies last summer were 6-7lbs at 8 weeks old (the biggest was 12). 😵‍💫

Peanut (girl):

Murray (boy, reserved):

Chestnut (girl):

Acorn (girl):

Cashew (boy, possibly reserved):

Two of the girls are reserved (which two will depend on temperament). Murray is definitely reserved, and Cashew is possibly reserved. I have one female reservation left.

I'm likely going to do a puppy transport run down into the southeast in early January if that impacts anyone's interest level. There would be a fee, but it would almost certainly still be significantly less expensive than paying a transport company.

See the tab at the top of the page labeled "2022 Litters" for more info on the various parents and for prices.

In other news, we got our first snow this morning. And... now it's raining. 😝 Gotta love autumn in New England!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Breeze's Puppies!

Breeze had her puppies starting at about 4:30 in the morning on November 9th! It was a pretty uneventful delivery...6 puppies came in an hour, and then #7 trailed along an hour after everyone else. I was honestly a little surprised she only had 7 after 11 last summer, but I'm fine with that- it's still 12 puppies in a little house between the two litters. 😂😂😂

They're very pretty, splashy puppies. Many are quite dark in color. They'll lighten up some, but a couple may end up with some lovely black shading over the sable as they mature. There's one tricolor.

These guys already seem more active and vocal than Hazel's litter of chill, chunky teddy bears. 😂 I'm thinking they'll be fun dogs!

Here they are in birth order:

1. Butterscotch Farm Apple Fritter

Dark sable male, white factored

2. Butterscotch Farm Apple Cider

Sable male, white factored

3. Butterscotch Farm Apple Brown Betty

Dark sable female, white factored

4. Butterscotch Farm Apple Streusel

Very dark sable male

I'm watching this boy - he practically came out running! 😂 I'm also curious whether he'll have a wavy coat.

5. Butterscotch Farm Candy Apple

Sable female, possibly white factored

6. Butterscotch Farm Apple Crisp

Tricolor female, white factored

7. Butterscotch Farm Apple Cobbler

Dark sable male, white factored

They look so tiny compared to the older puppies! They seem to be doing well, though. They range in weight from about 13-17 ounces.

Anyway, happy Friday!

Cottage Progress and Puppies

Things are hopping here at Butterscotch Farm!

Yesterday Dad did some chimney repairs for me and assembled a Gorilla cart my brother bought me as a very early birthday present. I have a plastic one, but it's broken and doesn't work well. The new metal one looks awesome!

I spent my day finishing and painting my beadboard wall, including trim. I really like it!!

The piano will go on this blank wall.

I need to declutter and dust the hutch, and figure out what I'm going to do in the empty corner by the stove. In theory, I could get a bigger kitchen stove now - my current one is adorable but oven space is very limited.

Breeze is about ready to pop, and boy is her stomach hanging low!! 😂 I'm very excited to meet her puppies. ❤️

Hazel and her puppies are doing great - clearly she's feeding them well, as they're all little butterballs. I just checked and Murray and Cashew are both 3 pounds already!

Here's how they're looking...eyes almost ready to open!

Peanut:

Murray (Black Walnut):

Chestnut:

Acorn:

Cashew:

Note that I took a total of 34 photos in order to get these 5 somewhat decent photos. They're very wriggly!!! 😂😂😂

Anyway, happy Tuesday... I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

One Week Old!

The puppies are a week old already! They've all just about doubled in weight, which is very good. Hazel is doing an excellent job feeding and cleaning them. She's relaxed quite a bit from the first day or two, when I could hardly convince her to leave the whelping box long enough for a potty break.

Here's what the crew looks like at a week:

1. Peanut

2. Murray

3. Chestnut

4. Acorn

5. Cashew

Aren't they just too cute? 🥰

Happy Tuesday!!
