Goats and Puppies and Chicks!!

This was my kind of day - the high was in the low 60s...sunny...a little windy, but that's okay.  I much prefer being slightly cool over being too warm, lol.

The lighting was so glorious that I just had to take the big camera and bring the puppies over to the field to get some pictures. I took them one at a time, so I could keep track of them, and that made the differences in their personalities quite evident. Ty (formerly Astro) is spunky and playful...but sticks so close that it was hard to get good pictures of him. Henry, though, is definitely an adventurer, and happily explored the meadow.

Here are some pictures from their excursions.

The goats wondering what the tiny fuzzball at my feet is.

The goats fleeing in terror from the 10-pound fuzzball - LOL! (And I was impressed at Ty's spunk - he has previously seemed a touch timid.) I had the presence of mind to grab a quick photo before running to scoop up the puppy before the goats realized he wasn't actually a threat. :P

So fuzzy!!!

The goats came back eventually, but kept at a safe distance, in case the teeny-tiny wolf thought about charging them again. :P This is the buckling.

And here's his sister. I need to start buttering this girl up - she doesn't trust me one bit, lol. Her brother will come right up to me.

Ty is SUCH a sweetie pie!!

Below is Henry's adventure...he too took right off after the goats, lol!!!

The picture below sums Henry up pretty well - head and tail up...bold, confident stride...this boy is going to keep me busy, LOL!

Lol, this picture just makes me laugh. :P

Handsome Henry!!

He never holds still for long!

Sniffing....

I got a few pictures of Buffy's adopted chicks, too.  They're in kind of a homely stage, LOL, but they're still adorable in their own way. :P

I hope everyone had a wonderful Lord's day!

And Then There Were Two

Whew... today all the pups went home except for two. I can't believe this wild ride is over! It's been quite the journey...and I am super excited for the next stage of this adventure - seeing the pups begin to grow and mature into the potential within each of them, and becoming an integral part of their new families. ♥️

JuJu is staying in Maine, and is keeping her name.

Bullseye is also staying in Maine, and is now McGruff.

Zagnut is in Massachusetts, and is now Ziggy.

Rolo is staying in Maine, and is now Rangeley.

Honey is staying in Maine, and is keeping her name.

Astro will be staying with me for another week, then going to Connecticut...his new name is Ty.

And Abba Zabba will be staying with me...his new name is Henry, after the Oh Henry candy bar! 🥰

Here are Ty and Henry playing together after everyone else had left.

Sleepy boys. ♥️

Henry... he's a very sweet and happy boy... and he's going to keep me on my toes, lol!

Happy Saturday!! ♥️

Field Trip!

I've been back to work last Saturday and today, and obviously I couldn't leave the pups unsupervised for that amount of time... so I brought them with me! :P

My boss let me set up their pen in his office. They're doing great - they get tons of socialization from my co-workers. And I'm happy to report that no one puked on the 20 minute car ride!

And yes, there are kibbles on the floor... I forgot to bring a dish, and the puppies don't care, lol.

Just one week until they go home! 😳

Brain Freeze, A Talented Cat, and Nostalgia

So I tried washing my hair with the hand pump today. I was successful, but I'm very glad I just did my hair - that water is COLD!!!! 🥶🥶🥶 That's the first time I have ever experienced brain freeze on the outside of my head. 😳

I do plan to rig up an outdoor shower at some point... I have a couple shower bags that Dad got me a while ago - you fill them with water and lay them out in the sun for a while to soak up the heat, and then hang them up wherever you're going to shower.

Anyway... I'm sure you all really wanted to hear about me washing my hair today... ;P

Unrelated, but a funny story I keep forgetting to write down...

A couple weeks ago, the little girl goat kid got out of the pen (I think she slid under the gate, lol... I fixed it later). It's a lot harder when she gets out than when her brother does, because she is a lot more timid, and won't let me get close.

So she and I went around and around and AROUND the pen. She was baa-ing piteously... and mama Rhode was bleating frantically. I would almost catch her sometimes as she came careening around the corner, but my timing was off that day.

Then Bartholomew came sauntering over to see what all the ruckus was about. In typical cat fashion, he flopped down right in the middle of all the commotion.

The little goat came tearing around the corner, dodged my grab - and then stopped short to stare at the unfamiliar animal suddenly sprawled across her path.

And... while she was cautiously studying the situation... I snuck up behind her and scooped her up. Thanks, Bartholomew!!

Going back to today, it was so hot in the dome that I decided to cook my hamburger outside. I started a small fire in my little metal brazier... and the smell of the smoke instantly took me back to my earliest days in the dome, last August, when I cooked my breakfast every day over the fire. I'll have to cook outside more often... there's just something about the fire that makes the food taste better. :)

Buffy and her chicks are doing well. I need to look up when they can be introduced to the rest of the flock. They're so tiny!! ♥️

Happy Monday!!!

Puppy Photo Dump

I played around with my big camera yesterday...haven't done that for a while, mostly because I don't usually have my laptop at the dome to download photos onto. But I have my laptop today...and I'm going to see if I can get all these photos on here before my battery runs out, lol!

JuJu:

The pups LOVE their Auntie Breeze.  The feeling is mutual, though I keep a close eye, because Breeze likes to play using her mouth and paws, LOL. It's probably fine, but it makes me wince sometimes. :P

She does this in the pen, too - sits and stares up into my soul. Oh, my heart...

Rolo:

All the pups tried to play with Thane...who is still deciding whether the tiny fuzzies are fascinating or terrifying, lol.

Lol, he looks so miffed in the photo below!  :P

This expression pretty much sums up his personality - he's a happy boy!

Abba Zabba:

"Won't you play with me, Uncle Thane? You're so cool!" ;P

He's a sweet, happy, friendly boy.

Bullseye:

Somehow I didn't get many pictures of Bullseye.  He's very handsome, sweet, and low energy.  And he already gives a high five!!  (Kind of...) :P

Zagnut:

Zagnut is a chunky little teddy bear, lol - this boy is SOLID!

I think he must be extra cheeky in dog body language, because I noticed that Nala corrected him a LOT.

Honey:

This girl is as sweet as her name - she bounces and wiggles and is just SO happy to see you.

Astro:

Thane: "That's close enough, tiny fuzzy!!"

Astro...incredibly handsome...a little on the timid side...but very sweet and playful. :)

Phew...got the pictures up before my battery ran out!

Tomorrow is two weeks until pups can start going home...can you believe it??

Anyway, happy Friday!  :)
